The long wait for the resumption of the Davis Cup rivalry between the United States and Great Britain professional tennis teams is now over.

This developed after the nations will face each other in the first round of the 2014 Davis Cup tournament. According to reports, the United States will play host to the much awaited tennis tournament which takes place on January 31st to February 2nd next year.

Sources said the Davis Cup rivalry of the two countries who are allies in global affairs started in the 1900s. Since the two great nations started their Davis Cup rivalry, the US team takes an 11-7 win-loss lead against Great Britain where the team also won their recent four matches.

This early the US team lead by former tennis champion Jim Courier is very excited to the chance of facing Great Britain again in a global tennis competition. Professional tennis experts revealed the last time Great Britain won against the US in a Davis Cup contest was in 1935.

The experts said the Davis Cup is a prestigious international team event in men’s tennis. They said this tournament is contested annually between teams from competing countries in a knock-out format. Moreover, the experts said the result of this meeting is hard to predict at the moment but they said this match-up could be won by either team in a very closed manner.
